The Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) is deepening its engagement with Bangladesh’s healthcare sector as part of its “U-Turn to Malaysia” campaign. One of the initiative’s main goals is to more strongly position Malaysia as a trusted, quality and accessible medical destination for Bangladeshi patients.
Alongside deepening ties with key stakeholders across Bangladesh’s healthcare, corporate and related industries, MHTC is running this campaign to raise awareness of Malaysia’s healthcare facilities and specialised treatment options in regions of the country beyond Dhaka.
To further expand healthcare cooperation with Bangladesh, MHTC recently met with health and family welfare minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain Bakul. The meeting discussed various opportunities to further strengthen healthcare cooperation between Bangladesh and Malaysia. The minister voiced support for Malaysia as an important healthcare destination and emphasised closer cooperation and engagement between the two countries’ healthcare sectors.
As part of this initiative’s September programme, five of Malaysia’s leading healthcare institutions — Alpha IVF Specialist Center, IHH Healthcare Malaysia, KL Fertility and Gynecology Centre, Sunway Medical Centre and KPJ Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital — are engaging directly with Bangladeshi patients and healthcare professionals. These institutions will showcase their expertise and facilities in fertility, oncology, cardiology, gynaecology and other specialised treatments.
Bangladesh is currently an important market for Malaysia’s healthcare travel sector. More than 10,800 Bangladeshi healthcare travellers have generated around RM10.4 million in revenue for Malaysian hospitals.
Alongside its activities in Dhaka, MHTC is taking part in the 13th Asian Tourism Fair (ATF) from September 17-19, creating an opportunity for Bangladeshi patients, healthcare professionals and industry stakeholders to connect directly with Malaysian healthcare institutions and representatives.
To further expand its healthcare activities beyond Dhaka, MHTC is organising Malaysia Healthcare Week in Chattogram for the first time. This will further widen the scope of the “U-Turn to Malaysia” campaign, the organisation said, making Malaysia’s advanced healthcare services and specialised facilities more easily accessible to patients and healthcare stakeholders outside the capital.
