The administration has provided cash and food assistance to the family of Anwar Hossain, a battery-powered auto-rickshaw driver killed by criminals in Natore’s Singra.
Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Abdullah Al Rifat visited the slain auto-driver’s home in Kandipara village, Sherkol union, Monday afternoon, August 31.
During the visit, the UNO checked on the bereaved family and handed a check for 16,000 taka along with rice, lentils, oil and other food items, on behalf of the upazila administration, to the victim’s mother, Asma Begum, and wife, Ferdousi Akter.
Also present were Assistant Commissioner (Land) Nishat Anjum, upazila project implementation officer Mithun Kundu, Sherkol Union BNP former general secretary Zainal Abedin, and Chhatra Dal member secretary Sihab Uddin Shanto, among others.
UNO Abdullah Al Rifat said the administration stands by the family of the auto-driver killed by criminals, and that police are working to swiftly arrest his killers.
Police recovered auto-driver Anwar Hossain’s body, with his hands, feet and mouth bound, from beside the Bhoga-Basantapur road on August 24, 24 hours after he went missing. A case has been filed at the police station against unidentified accused over the killing, but the perpetrators have not yet been identified.
