Under the slogan “Let us build a Bangladesh of justice through merit, honesty and patriotism”, the Satkhira town unit of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir has honoured 300 students who secured GPA-5 in the SSC, dakhil and equivalent examinations.
The ceremony was held on Friday morning (September 25) at the Kazi Shamsur Rahman auditorium of Al Amin Trust in Munshipara, Satkhira town.
Chaired by Mehedi Hasan, a member of Chhatra Shibir’s central executive council and Satkhira town president, the event had Principal Izzat Ullah, MP for Satkhira-1, as chief guest. The main speaker was Saidul Islam, Chhatra Shibir’s central literature secretary.
Special guests included Satkhira district Jamaat amir Vice-Principal Shahidul Islam Mukul; Chhatra Shibir’s central college activities secretary Hafez Yusuf Islahi; district Jamaat secretary Maulana Azizur Rahman and assistant secretary Lecturer Omar Faruk; Satkhira town Jamaat secretary Khorshed Alam; and Sadar upazila Jamaat secretary Maulana Habibur Rahman. The event was moderated by Satkhira town Chhatra Shibir secretary Md Nurunnabi.
“Along with achieving GPA-5, students must practise honesty and patriotism,” Principal Izzat Ullah said in his speech as chief guest. “By combining merit and ethics, the young generation must play a role in building a society free of discrimination and corruption.”
“It is not enough for students to succeed only in academic results; they must grow into model people of good character,” said the main speaker, Saidul Islam. “Islami Chhatra Shibir is working tirelessly to prepare students as patriotic citizens by combining merit and ethics. Our new generation must excel in knowledge and science while being strengthened by ideological conviction.”
The students who secured GPA-5 received commemorative crests, flowers, books, pens, notepads and other gifts. A “suggestion board” was set up to collect students’ views and suggestions, and a photo frame was arranged for pictures.
Principal Kamal Uddin spoke on behalf of the teachers, and one of the GPA-5 students also spoke.
After the discussion and prize-giving, artists of the Kapotaksha Shilpigoshthi, Satkhira, performed a cultural programme. Also present were several Satkhira town Chhatra Shibir secretaries and the presidents of the Satkhira Government College, City College and Agardari Madrasa units.
