Police have recovered the body of a woman named Hasina Begum, 45, from beside farmland in Debiganj, Panchagarh.
The body was recovered on Friday (September 25) from farmland in the Balapara area of Chilahati union in the upazila.
Hasina Begum was the wife of Nur Sheikh of Balapara. She ran a confectionery shop at Balapara bazar.
Locals said Hasina Begum closed her shop at the bazar and returned home at around 11pm on Thursday. After getting home she served her husband dinner, then went out to attend an invitation at a neighbour’s house nearby. She never came back.
At around 8am on Friday, some locals who went to collect fish traps from farmland about half a kilometre from her home found her body lying there. Their screams drew people from nearby to the spot. Police arrived after being informed and recovered the body.
“Police have reached the scene. Further legal action will be taken once the inquest report is prepared,” said Bimal Chandra Barman, assistant superintendent of police for the Debiganj circle.
