Members of the Ansar and Village Defence Force have detained a man who was attempting fraud by posing as personal secretary (PS) to an officer of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI). The detained man, Masudur Rahman, 34, had spent the past two days pressuring an administrative officer at the Directorate General of Health Services office in Mohakhali, in the capital, to sign a file.
Ansar members detained him around 11:30am Thursday. The information was released in a press statement signed by the force’s assistant director and public relations officer, Md Najmus Sakib. It said that around 11:30am Thursday, he intimidated and threatened the officer’s PS, saying: “There are many reports against you, I’ll deal with you.”
When Ansar members on duty there noticed the matter, they immediately confronted the man. When questioned about his identity and suspicious activity, inconsistencies emerged in his statements, revealing evidence of fraud. Ansar members then detained him and informed Banani thana police. When police arrived at the scene, the fraudster was handed over to them. The operation was led by Ansar PC Md Shahabuddin, with APC Jalal Uddin, Ansar Monirul Islam and Ansar Sri Purna Roy taking part.
