Current government determined to work for the people: aviation minister

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat has said the current government is determined to work for the people’s development and welfare. In that context, he said, those of us who serve as public representatives and government officials and employees must make certain sacrifices, and work for public welfare within our respective spheres.

He made the remarks as chief guest Monday morning at a coordination meeting on law and order, drug control, good governance, ensuring transparency and accountability, implementing the election manifesto, and overseeing public welfare and development activities in Mymensingh district, held at the district administration’s conference room.

The meeting was chaired by Mymensingh Deputy Commissioner Md Saifur Rahman.

Addressing various department heads and public representatives, the minister said maintaining law and order, controlling drugs, ensuring good governance, transparency and accountability, alongside implementing the election manifesto and public welfare and development activities, are among the key goals of this coordination meeting. He said this requires the combined effort of the administration and public representatives. He added that if the election manifesto is fulfilled, the public will get what they are entitled to, and the government will fulfill the public’s hopes and expectations. If our work isn’t done properly, he said, the public will turn away from us.

He further said their sincerity is essential to improving the district’s overall law-and-order situation and implementing ongoing development projects transparently and within a set timeframe with good governance. He expressed hope that they would carry out their duties with sincerity and honesty, saying that particular vigilance is needed on drugs and smuggling.

In her remarks as chair, the deputy commissioner said all district offices and law enforcement agencies are working together to improve the district’s law and order and ensure the transparency and implementation of various projects. She called for further strengthening this effort in the future to fulfill the public’s aspirations.

The meeting was also attended by heads of relevant offices under the district development committee, local public representatives, the city corporation administrator, distinguished individuals and members of the media.
