The administration of Donald Trump in the United States has repeatedly claimed that Iran’s military power has been “greatly reduced.” However, a confidential assessment report from the U.S. Intelligence Department says otherwise. According to the report, Iran still retains its vast missile capabilities. The New York Times, an American news outlet, published a report related to this on Tuesday.

The New York Times says a confidential report prepared at the beginning of May shows Iran has regained the capability of most of its missile silos. Of the 33 missile silos located near the strategically important Hormuz system, 30 are now under their control.

The media outlet, having knowledge of the secret report, stated that compared to the period between February 28 and April 7, Iran has preserved (overall) about 70 percent of its missiles and mobile launch vehicles undamaged as of now, prior to attacks by the United States and Israel.

In the vicinity of the Hormuz system, Oman Sea’s coastline sees the launch of an Iranian long-range ballistic missile named ‘Naser’ during the operation of the ‘Velayat-90’ military exercise. Further information from sources indicates that approximately 90 percent of Iran’s underground missiles and launch sites are now ‘partially or fully operational.’ However, Olivia Wells, a spokesperson for the White House, has dismissed claims of Iran regaining its military capability. According to a report in The New York Times, Wells stated that Iran understands that their ‘current situation is untenable.

Olivia Wells further commented that those who believe Iran has rebuilt its military power are mistaken, or perhaps they are speaking from the perspective of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. During the attack, Trump made claim after claim that the extent of this attack was significant and that it had weakened Iran’s military capabilities. However, during the war, Iran launched at least 100 consecutive attacks on sensitive and strategic U.S.-Israel targets in the Middle East.

Despite questions raised, reports and analyses published regarding U.S. President Trump’s repeated claims of victory, he has maintained his stance. After the declaration of a ceasefire last month, Brigadier General Majid Musavi, commander of the IRGC’s Aerospace Force, stated that Iran has increased its number of missiles and drone launch sites compared to before the war.

On last Saturday, Musavi said that Iran’s modern missiles and drones have been put on alert in the Persian Gulf region, targeting U.S. objectives and enemy vessels. The forces are ready to strike at a moment’s notice.
