A mobile court in Chattogram’s Anwara sentenced two men to 60 days in prison without labor and fined them for using drugs during an anti-narcotics raid.
The raid was carried out Saturday (Sept. 5) in the Batatoli New Guchchhagram area of the upazila.
Those sentenced were identified as Aktar Kabir, 36, and Hannan, 22.
The raid was led by Anwara Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md. Abu Jafar Mazumder.
According to mobile court sources, Aktar and Hannan were caught using drugs during the raid. They were later fined 500 taka each and sentenced to 60 days in prison without labor under the Narcotics Control Act.
Executive Magistrate Md. Abu Jafar Mazumder said the upazila administration’s anti-drug drives are being carried out regularly. “Such operations will continue in the public interest,” he said.
