Newlywed man found hanged at in-laws’ home in Khulna’s Koyra

Police recovered the hanging body of a 25-year-old man from his in-laws’ house in Khulna’s Koyra, less than three weeks after his wedding.

The body was recovered around 10 p.m. Friday from a house in Gobra village in the upazila. The man had married the homeowner’s daughter just 17 days earlier.

The victim was a resident of Koyra Sadar union.

According to local and police sources, the man was staying at his in-laws’ house with his wife Friday night. Around 10:30 p.m., his wife returned from the bathroom to find the bedroom door locked from inside. After repeated calls went unanswered, she looked through the window and saw her husband hanging from a rafter. Her screams brought neighbors running, who alerted police. Koyra police station officers later recovered the body from the scene. The cause was not immediately known, and the incident has caused a stir in the area.

Koyra police station’s officer-in-charge, Md. Rashedul Alam, confirmed the incident, saying police recovered the body from the scene Friday night after being informed. The body was sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital’s morgue Saturday morning for an autopsy.

He said police are investigating whether it was suicide or whether another cause or mystery lies behind it.
