BNP acting secretary general Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has accused the secretary general of Jamaat-e-Islami of trying to damage the government’s image by spreading lies.
He made the remarks on Saturday morning (24 October) at a dengue awareness leaflet distribution programme organised by Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP in front of the Fakirapool kitchen market in the capital.
Rizvi, who is also the prime minister’s political adviser, said Bangladesh stands in a better position than India and Pakistan on the global food index. He said a quarter was deliberately trying to create a state of chaos.
But the people will not accept any attempt to destabilise the country, he said.
On the allegation of a political understanding with the Awami League, Rizvi said those who claim a deal was struck with the Awami League must show proof of that deal and the documents behind it. “We, on the other hand, have put forward evidence of their own collusion with them,” he said.
He said attempts were being made to mislead the public with confusing statements for political ends. Any effort to tarnish the government’s image through lies and propaganda is in no way acceptable, he said.
