Maulana Azizur Rahman led prayers for Masud Rana’s salvation and the well-being of his only daughter and widow.

Masud Rana Mukul, 35, was shot in the head and killed near Mirpur-10 roundabout in Dhaka on Aug. 4, the day before former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled to India amid the student-led mass uprising of 2024. Mukul was the youngest son of Abdur Rayhan and Jahanara Khatun of Koyradanga village in Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga district. A diploma engineer, Mukul worked as a lift engineer at a private firm in Dhaka and lived in a rented house behind Sony cinema hall in the Mirpur-1 area. He had tirelessly supported students during the anti-discrimination student movement.
