DHAKA — Five more people died of dengue fever and 636 were hospitalized in the past 24 hours, the Health Ministry’s Health Emergency Operation Center said Sunday.
The deaths bring this year’s dengue toll to 382, with a total of 94,402 cases recorded, according to a regular bulletin from the directorate’s control room.
Of those hospitalized in the past 24 hours, 75 were in Barishal division, 95 in Chattogram division, 116 in Dhaka division, 147 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 74 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 56 in Khulna division, 45 in Mymensingh division, 17 in Rajshahi division, two in Rangpur division and nine in Sylhet division, the directorate said.
Of the five who died, three were in Dhaka South City Corporation, one in Chattogram division and one in Khulna division.
In the same period, 803 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals. So far this year, 92,025 patients have been discharged.
In 2024, Bangladesh recorded 101,214 dengue cases and 575 deaths. In 2023, the country recorded its highest dengue toll, with 1,705 deaths and 321,179 hospitalizations.
