The historic 7 November, ‘National Revolution and Solidarity Day’, was observed with due dignity in Chuadanga. The district BNP and its various affiliated organisations marked the day with a colourful rally, a discussion meeting and the hoisting of flags at the party office.
The day’s programme began at 9:30am on Saturday, 7 November, with the hoisting of the national and party flags on the district Sahitya Parishad premises, followed by a discussion meeting there.
At the meeting, speakers recalled with deep respect the historic background of 7 November 1975, the far-sighted role of the late President Ziaur Rahman, and the united contribution of soldiers and civilians to protecting the country’s democracy, independence and sovereignty.
They said 7 November is an important chapter in Bangladesh’s politics and history, and that the day gives renewed strength to protect national unity, democracy and independence. Its true significance and history must be properly conveyed to today’s young generation, they said.
The event was conducted by Chuadanga district BNP organising secretaries Shafiqul Islam Pitu and Khalid Mahmud Milton, and municipal BNP president Sirajul Islam Moni spoke as chief guest.
Others who spoke or attended included district Jubo Dal general secretary Saidul Islam Jhontu, Jubo Dal leader Rajib Hossain, former district Chhatra Dal president Shahjahan Khan and municipal Chhatra Dal member secretary Majedul Alam Mehedi, along with BNP leaders and activists of its various affiliated organisations.
After the meeting, a colourful rally set off from the Chuadanga Sahitya Parishad grounds. It went round the town’s main roads (Court Mor, Chourasta Mor and Kobori Road) and ended back at the Sahitya Parishad. Party leaders and activists took part in large numbers.
