An MP’s discretionary fund distributed 1 lakh 83 thousand 500 taka among 32 destitute and helpless people in Gangni upazila of Meherpur on Sunday.
The handover took place at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 24, at the conference room of the Gangni upazila parishad.
Md. Nazmul Huda, lawmaker for the Meherpur-2 (Gangni) constituency, attended as chief guest. Special guests included Md. Anwar Hossain, the upazila executive officer; Md. Rabiul Islam, ameer of the Gangni upazila Jamaat; Maulana Jahangir Alam, the upazila Jamaat secretary; and Md. Ahsanul Haque, ameer of the municipal Jamaat.
Speakers urged the wealthy to step forward for the welfare of the poor and helpless. The chief guest then handed the cash to the beneficiaries.
