Two cocktail blasts hit capital’s Malibagh

Miscreants set off two crude bombs, locally known as cocktails, on the road near Malibagh Railgate in the capital, beside a Sohag Paribahan bus counter. The blasts occurred around noon on Friday (September 18), after Friday prayers. No casualties have been reported.

According to local sources, the two cocktails were thrown from atop the Malibagh flyover down onto the road below in the afternoon. As shops were closed and no one was on the street at the time, there were no casualties. Police arrived at the scene shortly afterward.

Shahjahanpur police station’s officer-in-charge (OC), Mohammad Amirul Islam, said the cocktails were thrown from the flyover onto the road below between 2pm and 2:30pm. No one was killed or injured, and no one involved in the incident has been identified so far, though efforts are under way to identify the culprits using CCTV footage.
