Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 542 people in a routine 24-hour operation across the capital. Police filed a total of 51 cases against those arrested at various police stations in the city during the operation.
The operations were carried out across various police station areas in the capital from midnight Wednesday to midnight Thursday. DMP Deputy Commissioner (media and public relations) Md Aktar Hossain confirmed the information today. According to DMP sources, the highest number of arrests, 193, came from the Mirpur division area. Additionally, 91 were arrested in Tejgaon division, 60 in Wari, 52 in Motijheel, 42 in Uttara, 41 in Gulshan, 28 in Lalbagh and 22 in Ramna division. DMP’s Detective Branch (DB) also arrested 12, and the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit arrested one person.
During the operations, 45 kilograms 490 grams of cannabis, 3,291 yaba pills, one shotgun, one private car, 15 mobile phones and a pair of handcuffs were recovered from the accused. In the preceding 24-hour period (midnight Tuesday to midnight Wednesday), DMP had arrested a total of 476 people in operations across the capital.
