Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has told the ministries and divisions concerned to push ahead quickly with construction of the proposed inner ring road to ease traffic congestion in Dhaka. He stressed removing obstacles to the project quickly, ensuring effective coordination among agencies and setting a realistic timeline.
He gave the instructions while chairing a meeting to review the project’s progress at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat on Sunday (4 October).
Deputy press secretary Hasan Shiplu said the prime minister told the Road Transport and Bridges Ministry and the Local Government Division to review the current plan together and speed up construction, identify and quickly remove obstacles, ensure effective coordination, set a realistic deadline and show visible progress quickly.
Attending were Road Transport, Bridges, Railways and Shipping Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam, State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam, State Minister for Road Transport, Bridges and Railways Habibur Rashid Habib, Dhaka South City Corporation administrator Abdus Salam and Dhaka North City Corporation administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton.
