5 businesses fined in Rangpur consumer rights operation

The operation, conducted jointly by the divisional and district offices of the National Consumer Rights Protection Department in Rangpur, inspected various milk chilling centers, feed shops and meat shops.

During the operation, Rangpur Dairy Product was fined 25,000 taka, Pran Dairy 10,000 taka, Maa Traders 7,000 taka, Abowa Banijjo Bhandar 6,000 taka, and Habibur Gosto Ghar 2,000 taka. A total of 50,000 taka in fines imposed was collected on the spot.

Present during the operation were Md. Jahangir Alam, deputy director of the National Consumer Rights Protection Department’s Rangpur divisional office; Md. Mostafizur Rahman, assistant director of the Rangpur district office; the Badarganj Upazila livestock officer; officials from the Rangpur District Food Safety Authority; and members of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force.

After the operation, Md. Jahangir Alam, deputy director of the department’s Rangpur divisional office, said such market monitoring and enforcement operations would continue in the public interest.
