The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved four projects costing Tk 5,184 crore to develop roads, drainage and infrastructure in the Dhaka South, Rangpur and Gazipur city corporations.
The projects were approved at an ECNEC meeting on Wednesday, held at the Secretariat in Dhaka with the prime minister and ECNEC chairperson, Tarique Rahman, in the chair.
State Minister for Planning Md Zonayed Abdur Rahim Saki gave the details at a press briefing at the NEC conference room in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar after the meeting.
In Dhaka South, roads and the drainage system will be developed in 18 wards of five new zones, and an integrated sewerage plan is to be added within two years of the project’s start. In Rangpur, important urban infrastructure will be developed and damaged roads rehabilitated. In Gazipur, roads will be built and improved, and drains and footpaths constructed, in zones 1 to 8.
