Jashore-2 (Chougachha-Jhikargachha) constituency lawmaker Dr. Mosleh Uddin Farid has called on students to come forward and help build a just Bangladesh by putting merit, honesty, ethics and patriotism to work.
He said true success in life cannot be achieved through merit alone; it must be combined with ethics, honesty and a sense of responsibility. Alongside putting their acquired knowledge and talent to use for the country’s welfare, he said, students must grow into people with strong values.
He made the remarks as chief guest Friday morning at a felicitation ceremony for students who achieved GPA-5 in the SSC, Dakhil and equivalent examinations, held at the Mridhapara Women’s Degree College hall in Chougachha municipal town, Jashore. The event was organized by the Chougachha upazila unit of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir.
Dr. Farid said good results are important for students’ future lives. But a person’s true success, he said, depends on their character, ethics and sense of responsibility. Alongside gaining knowledge, he said, students must build themselves into citizens responsible to the country and society.
The event was chaired by Ehsanul Kader Imroz, president of the Chougachha upazila Chhatra Shibir. Moderated by upazila Chhatra Shibir secretary Alfaz Hussain, the keynote address was delivered by Yousuf Islahi, the organization’s central college campus secretary.
Special guests included Ismail Hossain, Jashore district president of Chhatra Shibir; upazila Jamaat ameer Maulana Golam Morshed; secretary Maulana Nurujjaman; assistant secretaries Master Kamal Ahmed and Master Rahidul Islam Khan; and former upazila Shibir presidents Maulana Abdur Rahim and Abdur Rahman.
Among the GPA-5 achievers at the felicitation ceremony, students Arnob Biswas Papon and Tajrin Nahar Orthi shared their feelings.
Organizers said 134 students from Chougachha upazila achieved GPA-5 in this year’s SSC, Dakhil and equivalent exams — 126 from 41 secondary schools, five from 21 madrasas and three from the technical stream. Honorary crests were presented to 120 GPA-achieving students from various educational institutions at the event.
