President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir visited his parents’ graves. Around 1:30 p.m. Sunday, on the first day of his two-day official visit to Thakurgaon, he went to Senua graveyard in the municipal town to pray at the graves.
The president stood silently beside his parents’ graves for some time. He took part in prayers and supplication during the visit. Family members, close relatives, local elected representatives and administration officials were present during the grave visit.
Ahead of the president’s visit, cleanup and beautification work was carried out in the Senua graveyard area. Police and other law enforcement personnel were deployed in and around the graveyard. After the visit, the president exchanged greetings with several local elders and others present.
Earlier, at 12:58 p.m., President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir arrived in his home district of Thakurgaon for the two-day official visit. He flew from Dhaka by helicopter, landing at the Mohammad Ali Stadium grounds in Thakurgaon.
