Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 164 bottles of Indian liquor in an operation along the Nalitabari border in Sherpur, as part of its zero-tolerance policy against narcotics.
The operation was carried out Tuesday (Sept. 8) at a place called Katabari in the upazila.
BGB said the special operation was conducted Tuesday at Katabari in Nalitabari upazila, Sherpur district, as part of ongoing anti-smuggling operations in the area under the responsibility of the Mymensingh Battalion (39 BGB). During the operation, BGB was able to seize 164 bottles of Indian liquor found unattended, with no owner present.
The estimated value of the seized Indian liquor is 246,000 taka.
BGB continues to carry out its duties around the clock to guard the international border in Mymensingh and Sherpur districts and to prevent all forms of illegal activity.
A press release said BGB operations to prevent narcotics, smuggling and all other forms of illegal activity along the border will continue.
