Islami Chhatra Shibir’s upazila unit in Chougachha, Jashore, felicitated students who achieved GPA-5 in the SSC, Dakhil and equivalent examinations.
The felicitation ceremony was organized by the Chougachha unit of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir at the Mridhapara Women’s Degree College hall in the municipal town around 10 a.m. Friday (Sept. 4) to encourage and inspire the students.
The chief guest at the event was Jashore-2 (Chougachha-Jhikargachha) constituency lawmaker Dr. Mosleh Uddin Farid.
In his speech, the chief guest called on students to help build a just Bangladesh through merit, honesty and patriotism. “You must put your talent, knowledge, ethics and integrity to use for the country’s welfare,” he said. “Merit alone cannot bring true success; it must be combined with ethics and honesty.”
He said good results are important for students’ future lives, but a person’s true success depends on their character, ethics and sense of responsibility. He urged students to build themselves into responsible citizens toward the country and society alongside their pursuit of knowledge.
The event was chaired by Ehsanul Kader Imroz, president of the Chougachha upazila Chhatra Shibir. Moderated by upazila Chhatra Shibir secretary Alfaz Hussain, the keynote address was delivered by Yousuf Islahi, central college campus secretary of Chhatra Shibir.
Special guests included Ismail Hossain, Jashore district president of Chhatra Shibir; upazila Jamaat ameer Maulana Golam Morshed; upazila Jamaat secretary Maulana Nurujjaman; assistant secretaries Master Kamal Ahmed and Master Rahidul Islam Khan; and former upazila Shibir presidents Maulana Abdur Rahim and Abdur Rahman, among others.
Students Arnob Biswas Papon and Tajrin Nahar Orthi shared their feelings at the event.
This year, 134 students from the upazila achieved GPA-5 in the SSC, Dakhil and equivalent exams — 126 from 41 secondary schools, five from 21 madrasas and three from the technical stream. The felicitation event was attended by 120 students from various educational institutions in the upazila, along with their guardians.
