BNP’s acting secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said the opposition is conspiring. If a one-point programme is declared, BNP will not sit with its hands folded. BNP will not resist it in the way the Awami League did, he said, and resisting terror is not a difficult thing for a democratic government.
He made the remarks at a press conference at BNP’s central office in Nayapaltan on Monday afternoon.
Rizvi said terrorist activity is being carried out in a planned way to destabilise the country. The people of the country and BNP’s supporters are aware of this. A conspiracy is also under way to divert social development programmes and measures for the public good, he said.
He said the opposition is holding a long march without offering any alternative proposal to raising oil prices. The language in which they are speaking is not appropriate. The government is making strenuous efforts to overcome the gas and electricity crisis, he said, while the opposition is trying to fill the public’s ears.
The acting secretary general said the government is sincerely trying to resolve the energy crisis. He also alleged that some people are mocking measures taken in the public interest.
