A total of 89 shops in Araihazar municipality, Narayanganj, have been fined 44,500 taka for operating without a trade licence.
The fines were collected during a mobile court operation at various markets in the municipality’s sadar area on Monday.
According to municipality sources, 26 shops at Mitra Plaza, 23 at Abdul Kadir Super Market and 40 at Habib Super Market were found without trade licences. Each of these shops was fined 500 taka.
The mobile court was run by upazila executive officer Md Asadur Rahman.
Also present were Araihazar municipality executive officer Kazi Mohammad Mostafa Kamal, licence inspector Md Sumon Mia, tax collector Md Hanif Sikder, assistant tax assessor Md Omar Faruk, and other municipality officials and staff.
During the mobile court operation, traders were given two days to obtain trade licences.
