Sabrina Saka Mim stepped into showbiz as a child artist in the 1990s. She later carved out a place for herself in television drama as well through her talent. In her personal life, Mim married Dr. Shahriar Ahmed Sajib roughly 14 years ago. But that marriage has since ended, the actress has revealed. Eight years after the marriage broke down, she has now spoken about the full story of the divorce.
Appearing as a guest on singer Putul’s podcast, Mim said: “After a certain age, girls start imagining — since I’ll have to get married anyway, I’ll get married this way, I’ll have this kind of ceremony, I’ll dress like this. I think everyone who has thought about marriage even once carries these small dreams. I used to tell my sister about my dreams for my wedding too. Later, when it was time for my wedding, my sister had my mother arrange everything.”
It should be noted that Mim married in a lavish ceremony on December 7, 2012, with both families’ consent. After the wedding, she withdrew completely from acting, because her in-laws did not want her to remain involved in showbiz.
Asked whether that was the reason behind the marriage’s breakdown, Mim said: “You might like a certain kind of music, someone else might not. I like acting, someone else might not like acting. These things aren’t the real issue. There were many other issues too, and as time went on, they kept getting worse.”
She added: “I won’t blame anyone. Maybe I was also at fault, maybe he was too — the person I married. When I realized this wasn’t going to work, I still waited five and a half years, because I never wanted to feel that I hadn’t tried to keep the marriage together. I signed the divorce papers on June 7, 2018.”
Mim said: “I actually believe that people’s lives aren’t written by their own hands. I got married the way other girls imagine getting married. I hoped everything would go well, and I made that effort. I’m sure my partner made that effort too. But somehow, the marriage just didn’t last.”
The actress says she has lost her faith in relationships. In the nine years since, Mim has not found the courage to remarry.
It’s worth noting that although she stepped into showbiz through musical performances in childhood, she began acting in BTV dramas in 1992. In her more mature years, she was seen in leading female roles in television dramas. After working in media for roughly 18 years, Mim withdrew from the spotlight. She was last seen in a drama in 2012. She later worked as a newsreader for a period but never returned to acting.
