Alongside acting, actress Toma Mirza has now also joined the banking profession. For nearly three months, she has been serving as assistant vice president (brand and communications) at a private bank. Despite taking on this new profession, the National Film Award-winning actress is not giving up acting.
Toma Mirza said acting remains her first love. She has no plans to step away from it.
Toma Mirza said: “Acting is my first love. I will always keep working in it. The bank’s management has been supportive of my acting career, so there’s no problem continuing with it.”
Toma drew audience attention starring opposite Afran Nisho in the films “Surongo” and “Dagi.” These days, however, she isn’t seen very often in films. The actress says she selectively takes on one or two films a year.
Toma sees the opportunity to take up a new profession alongside acting as a new experience in life. She said: “I very selectively do one or two films a year. Having this opportunity to explore something else with the rest of my life is wonderful. I want to make the most of it and gain experience.”
Toma Mirza has won praise not just on the big screen but on OTT platforms as well. Her performances in “Janowar,” “Khanchar Bhitor Ochin Pakhi,” and “Friday” drew considerable discussion among audiences.
New acting work is also coming her way. Toma will soon begin work on the film “Khalnayak,” directed by Vicky Zahed. Afran Nisho will star opposite her in the film.
It may be noted that Toma made her film debut in 2010 with M B Manik’s “Bolo Na Tumi Amar.” She then drew attention playing the lead in Ananta Hira’s “O Amar Desher Mati.” In 2015, she won the National Film Award for a supporting role in Shahnewaz Kakoli’s film “Nodijon.”
