14,384 primary assistant teachers to join Oct. 1

The 14,384 assistant teachers selected for appointment will join their respective district primary education offices on Oct. 1, Education Minister A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milon has said.

The education minister shared the information Tuesday (Sept. 8) during the question-and-answer session in the 13th parliament, in response to a question from lawmaker Md. Selim Reza.

In the education minister’s absence, the question was answered by State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj. Deputy Speaker Barrister Kaiser Kamal chaired the session. The education minister said that under Assistant Teacher Recruitment 2025, 14,384 candidates have been finally selected for appointment as assistant teachers. The selected teachers will join their respective district primary education offices on Oct. 1, 2026, and will be posted to schools on Oct. 4, 2026.

Ehsanul Haque Milon said 36,960 head teacher posts remain vacant for promotion. With the resolution of Writ Petition No. 73/2023 filed in the High Court Division of the Supreme Court, activities to fill vacant, promotion-eligible head teacher posts are now under way.
