A woman is accused of killing her husband, Nurul Zaman Haolader, 55, in Barishal city following a marital dispute. The accused wife has been on the run since the incident. His body was recovered on Tuesday (September 15) morning from a rented house belonging to Ahsan Habib in Ishakathi Colony, Ward No. 29 of the city.
The deceased, Nurul Zaman, was the son of the late Sattar Haolader of East Toyka village, Batamara union, Muladi upazila. He worked as a lawyer’s assistant, known as a muhuri.
According to police and local sources, Nurul Zaman had been in marital conflict with his wife, Nasima Begum, over family matters for the past several days. Following this, on Monday night, wife Nasima allegedly assaulted her husband Nurul Zaman before strangling him to death.
Barishal Airport police station’s officer-in-charge (OC), Md Shakhawat Hossain, said that after receiving information from locals, police reached the scene at dawn, broke the lock and recovered the deceased’s body from the house. The body was then sent to the morgue for a post-mortem examination. He added that, alongside further legal action, multiple police teams are working to arrest the deceased’s fugitive wife and investigate the full incident.
