Actress Opu Biswas had traveled to Nepal to shoot a new film when Wednesday’s flash flood there destroyed roads, bridges and several power projects. The death toll has risen past 150, with hundreds still missing. Opu Biswas was stranded in Nepal but is safe.
If all goes according to plan, she will return to Bangladesh today.
Opu Biswas said: “I’m in Pokhara, and I’m safe here. But the highway from Pokhara to Kathmandu has been badly damaged. I’ve learned it will take about a month to repair. Our car has been arranged. Tomorrow (today) I’ll head to Kathmandu. There’s a lot of pressure on flights. I’ll fly back to Dhaka from Kathmandu tomorrow (today).” Speaking about her situation in Nepal, Opu Biswas said: “Please don’t worry about me. I ask everyone for their prayers, so that I can return home safely to my child.”
Opu had earlier drawn fans’ attention by sharing photos from the Nepal shoot, showing both the country’s natural beauty and various moments from filming. Murtaza Palash plays opposite Opu in the film, which also features Kolkata actors Rajatava Dutta and Shyam Bhattacharya, among others.
