Amena Hasan Bipasha (32), a community health-care provider (CHCP) at Pangkharchar community clinic in Itna union of Narail’s Lohagara upazila, has been killed by a truck on her way to work. She died under treatment in Jashore on Wednesday (10 June) afternoon, after a truck hit her van in front of the Modhumoti brickfield in the Kalnaghat area on the Narail-Dhaka national highway that morning. Bipasha was the wife of Narail journalist Tanvir Ahmed Rubel; they lived in Lakshmipasha in Lohagara upazila town.
Her family said that, as on every day, she was travelling by van from her Lakshmipasha home to work on Wednesday when the truck hit the van in front of the Modhumoti brickfield in the Kalnaghat area and fled. Seriously injured, Bipasha was first brought to the Lohagara upazila health complex and, after first aid, taken to Jashore for advanced treatment, where she died. Narail’s Tularampur Highway police OC Habil Hossain said Amena Hasan Bipasha was killed by the truck, that the truck could not be seized, and that legal action was being taken.
The death of Amena Hasan Bipasha, wife of Tanvir Ahmed Rubel — former Narail district correspondent of Deepto TV and Ajker Patrika — has cast a pall of grief among journalists. The Rubel-Bipasha couple have two sons. Journalists working for various media in Narail have expressed sympathy to the family.
