A longstanding rumor in the entertainment world claims film actress Puja Cherry is getting married. Reports have circulated that she is set to marry a Bangladeshi businessman, with some outlets even claiming the wedding has already taken place. Though she had stayed silent on the matter until now, the actress has finally spoken out.
In a Facebook post Monday night, Puja said she is not yet married. She also asked that “baseless and misleading” news about her not be published without proper verification.
In the post, Puja wrote: “I’ve noticed that various media outlets have, over the past several days, been publishing one baseless and misleading report after another about my marriage and personal life. Stories are being deliberately fabricated linking my name to one person or another from various professions, which is extremely embarrassing and distressing.”
She continued: “I made clear in an earlier interview that I am engaged, and that my marriage has been arranged through my family. I also confirmed that whenever my wedding ceremony takes place, I will announce it myself, publicly and with great joy. There is nothing to hide.”
Puja has not taken kindly to the repeated publication of reports about her marriage. She questioned the motives behind publishing such reports about her without verifying any information, while also raising the issue of personal privacy and her legal rights.
In her post, Puja cited Articles 31 and 43 of Bangladesh’s constitution and Section 25 of the Cyber Security Act, 2023, claiming that interference in personal freedom and spreading baseless or false information about someone is a punishable offense under the law.
She wrote: “If anyone treats my silence as an opportunity for baseless reporting, I will be compelled to defend my legal rights.”
Puja concluded by urging media workers to report objective information, while also expressing her respect for the media’s cooperation and the public’s affection for her.
Puja Cherry’s personal relationships have been the subject of speculation in entertainment circles before. Discussion of her engagement first emerged earlier this year. She later confirmed in an interview that she was “engaged,” though she did not disclose her fiance’s identity. With marriage rumors now circulating again, the actress has moved to clarify her position.
Puja Cherry rose to prominence as an actress with the film “Poramon 2.” She has since appeared in several films, including “Dahan,” “Noor Jahan,” “Shaan,” “Golui,” “Hridita,” “Jinn,” and “Lipstick.”
