Wheelchairs distributed to people with special needs in Gazipur, backed by Dr. Hafizur Rahman

Wheelchairs were distributed in Gazipur to help ease mobility for people with special needs and physical disabilities. The wheelchairs were distributed Tuesday (Sept. 8) in the Chandana Chowrasta area of Gazipur city, backed by Dr. Hafizur Rahman, the Jamaat-backed mayoral candidate for Gazipur City Corporation, with support from a Turkey-based organization.

Speaking as chief guest at the wheelchair distribution event, Dr. Hafizur Rahman said they want to build Gazipur into a livable, humane city where no group of people, regardless of profession or class, feels neglected. He said priority will be given to ensuring the necessary facilities in the city for people with special needs, physical disabilities and others left behind for various reasons.

He said, “We want to build Gazipur into a city livable for everyone, where separate facilities will be ensured for people with special needs, physical disabilities or those left behind in various ways.”

Dr. Hafizur Rahman said that in running a city, it isn’t just infrastructure development that matters, but also improving people’s quality of life and ensuring humane services. He said initiatives will be taken to stand by helpless and underprivileged people in their time of need and to bring civic services to their doorstep.

He added, “God willing, if given the opportunity, we will bring services door to door for people in need.”

Organizers said wheelchairs play an important supportive role in the daily mobility of people with physical disabilities and special needs. With this necessary support, many can become more active in leading a normal life while reducing their dependence on family members. The wheelchairs were distributed as part of that effort.

The event was attended by, among others, Advocate Sadiquzzaman Khan, Sadar Metro thana Jamaat Ameer and candidate for Ward 26 councilor; Maulana Akramul Islam, Bason thana Jamaat Ameer and candidate for Ward 13 councilor; along with other councilor candidates from the area, leaders at various levels, and local residents.
