Scholars must lead the way to establish Quranic law: Jamaat leader

Dr. Helal Uddin, deputy Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Dhaka Metropolitan South unit, said the Holy Quran is a living miracle. He said true success lies in holding the Quran close to our hearts and governing the state by its teachings. He called on Islamic scholars and religious leaders to unite and come forward to establish Quranic law.

Dr. Helal Uddin said the country’s community of Islamic scholars will lead Bangladesh through an Islamic revolution. He said scholars and religious leaders will lead not only from the mosque pulpit but also in parliament in the future, and will govern the state. He made these remarks as chief guest at a meet-the-scholars session with Islamic scholars and mosque imams, organized by the Motijheel zone of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka Metropolitan South’s Ulama Department, held Saturday in the capital’s Motijheel to mark the observance of Seeratun Nabi (the life of the Prophet, peace be upon him).

Dr. Helal Uddin said: “If we can remain ready for the sacrifice needed to implement Quranic law, no obstacle ahead will matter. We will overcome every obstacle and achieve victory, God willing.”

He further said the purpose of a Seeratun Nabi gathering should be to establish the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) example, from personal life to family, social and state systems. Calling on the scholarly community to play a selfless role in establishing the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) example, he said state reform must be achieved by establishing that example. He said there is no alternative to following the example of Seeratun Nabi to change the current prevailing state system. He said that no matter how many revolutions occur under man-made ideologies, people’s fortunes will not change; changing people’s fortunes requires changing the system.

The meet-the-scholars session, chaired by Maulana A.N.M. Helal Uddin Siddiqui, president of Dhaka Metropolitan South Jamaat’s Ulama Department Motijheel zone, was attended as special guests by the organization’s central Majlis-e-Shura member and Metropolitan South Ulama Department president, Principal Maulana Mosharraf Hossain; Metropolitan Majlis-e-Shura member and Ulama Department secretary, Mufti Mohiuddin; and Paltan zone Ulama Department president, Dr. Maulana Muhammad Mohiuddin Ahmed. Islamic scholars and religious leaders from various local levels also attended the event.
