Nine years ago, in 2017, popular Bangladeshi singers Imran Mahmudool and Sabrina Porshi recorded a duet together. While audiences at the time were not as YouTube-focused as they are today, the song has now reached a major milestone — 100 million views on the platform.
The song is called “Jonom Jonom” (Lifetime to Lifetime). It was the first duet by the Imran-Porshi pairing. Though they have since recorded numerous songs together, this early track continues to draw listeners.
Imran Mahmudool shared the milestone on social media on Friday afternoon. “This was my first-ever duet with Porshi in my music career. Before we knew it, the song has crossed over 100 million views,” he wrote.
“Though this was not a song of the YouTube era, the fact that it is still receiving listeners’ love in step with time and technology is truly a joy,” he added.
The song was written by popular lyricist Rabiul Islam Jibon. Expressing gratitude to his collaborators, Imran wrote that “Jonom Jonom,” composed and arranged by him with lyrics by Rabiul Islam Jibon, was a track from Porshi’s third solo album and one of its most popular songs. “Heartfelt congratulations and love to everyone involved with this song. May ‘Jonom Jonom’ live on in listeners’ love,” he wrote.
The official music video was published on the G-Series YouTube channel on February 7, 2017, directed by Romy Khan. The song’s success has clearly transcended the cassette and CD era into the digital platform age.
Fans responded enthusiastically in the comments section of Imran’s post, sharing well-wishes and old memories. Lyricist Rabiul Islam Jibon also responded with a message of appreciation. One fan wrote: “I used to listen to this on a Nokia phone — I still listen on YouTube and get the same feeling.”
