Three more children have died with measles symptoms nationwide in the past 24 hours, taking the total death toll from measles and its symptoms since March 15 this year to 1,012. An additional 1,111 new measles cases and symptoms were also reported over the same period.
The information was released Friday (September 11) in the Health Directorate’s regular measles report. According to the report, two of the newly deceased children were from Chattogram division — one from Chattogram itself and one from Noakhali. The third child died in Dhaka.
The updated report also said that with the new cases, the total number of measles and symptom cases since March 15 has reached 169,822. The number of confirmed measles patients stands at 19,967.
During this period, 149,471 people have been hospitalised with measles and its symptoms, of whom 143,864 have recovered and returned home.
