Rain is occurring nationwide because of a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a signal 3 warning at four sea ports. Fishing boats and trawlers in the northern Bay of Bengal have also been told to move carefully, staying close to the coast.
The warning was issued in a Meteorological Department bulletin Tuesday afternoon. The department said Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra sea ports have been told to keep displaying a signal 3 warning because of the low-pressure system.
The bulletin said the well-marked low over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal-Odisha area remains stationary, and may move west-northwest.
As a result, squally winds may sweep across sea ports, the northern Bay of Bengal and Bangladesh’s adjoining coastal areas. Fishing boats and trawlers in the northern Bay of Bengal have been told to move carefully, staying close to the coast, until further notice.
The low-pressure system could make the sea rough. Fishing boats and trawlers have accordingly been advised to keep watching weather conditions while moving.
