Young man killed in collision with jute-laden van in Rajbari

A young man identified as Md Sirajul Sheikh, 32, was killed after his van collided with another van loaded with jute in Kalukhali, Rajbari. The accident occurred around 11 a.m. Thursday.

Sirajul Sheikh, who died in the crash, was the son of Shukur Ali Sheikh of Shahmirpur village in Habaspur union, Pangsha upazila, Rajbari.

According to local sources, seven or eight people from Shahmirpur village set out by van Thursday morning for Kalukhali bus stand, from where they planned to travel by bus to attend an urs at Chandrapara Darbar in Faridpur.

Around 11 a.m., as they reached the Harinbaria area of Kalukhali, their van collided with another van loaded with jute. Sirajul was thrown from the van in the collision and suffered a serious head injury.

He was quickly rescued and taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, where he received initial treatment. His condition later worsened, and while doctors were taking him to Dhaka for advanced treatment, Sirajul died in Faridpur around 12:30 p.m., according to family members and local sources.

Kalukhali police station officer-in-charge (OC) Golam Mostafa confirmed the death, saying that since the victim’s home is in Pangsha police station’s jurisdiction, the case will be filed there.
