“Jana Nayagan,” the last film starring Tamil cinema superstar Thalapathy Vijay, is releasing on July 24. To avoid a box-office clash with that film, the release date of “Sigma,” the first film directed by Vijay’s son Jason Sanjay, has been pushed back. The film had earlier been due for release on July 31 but will now release in August, it has been learned. Alongside his directorial debut, Jason Sanjay is also set to make his acting debut.

An NDTV report said discussions were under way over Jason Sanjay’s first acting film, with producer GKM Tamil Kumaran in talks with Jason about making the film under his own production banner. “Sigma” is being produced by Lyca Productions. It is an action film blending treasure hunt, heist and comedy, with Sundeep Kishan in the lead role, alongside Faria Abdullah, Raju Sundaram, Sampath Raj, Shiva Pandit, Anbu Thasan, Yog Japee, Mahalakshmi, Sheela Rajkumar, Kamalesh and Kiran Konda. The film was shot at various locations in Tamil Nadu and Thailand, with music by S Thaman.

In a statement, Jason Sanjay said: “Sigma is a film with a story about someone who chooses their own path, outside society’s conventional expectations. Combining treasure hunt, heist and comedy, it will be a great entertainment experience for audiences.” Audiences now await Vijay’s farewell film “Jana Nayagan” on July 24, followed by Jason Sanjay’s directorial debut “Sigma” on the big screen in August.
