Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Mia Golam Parwar says the party accepted the result of the last national election “with a stone on its chest” in the country’s wider interest. He also claimed the election result had been manipulated.
Mia Golam Parwar made the remarks while talking to the media after attending an organisational event of the Khulna divisional Jamaat-e-Islami in Jhenaidah on Friday morning (September 25).
He said the party accepted the result of the last national election in view of the country’s wider interest and the aspirations of the July uprising. He also claimed they had learned from the statements of advisers to the interim government that the result had been manipulated.
Mia Golam Parwar alleged that the government has strayed from the path of fulfilling the aspirations of the July uprising. Although Jamaat-e-Islami has been cooperating with the government, it is being met with politically spiteful statements and conduct, he claimed.
“Jamaat-e-Islami has been cooperating with the government,” he said. “But the government sees this as weakness and is making politically spiteful statements.”
Jamaat MPs from Jhenaidah and Kushtia and leaders and activists from various levels of the party attended the event.
