Trader fined for hoarding 21 sacks of fertiliser at home

A mobile court run by the upazila administration carried out the raid at Hajirhat area in Uria union of the upazila on Sunday (September 6) afternoon. Upazila agriculture officer Khandaker Feroz Mahmud was present during the operation.

Upazila executive officer (UNO) Mostafizur Rahman confirmed the matter in the afternoon.

According to the upazila administration and agriculture office, the raid was carried out at trader Emdadul Haque’s home following information that fertiliser was being illegally hoarded there. A total of 21 sacks of fertiliser, including 50-kilogram bags of TSP and potash, were seized. The mobile court fined trader Emdadul Haque Entaz 10,000 taka for illegally hoarding fertiliser.

Fulchhari upazila executive officer (UNO) Mostafizur Rahman, who led the raid, said the trader was fined for illegally hoarding fertiliser. He said the upazila agriculture officer has also been instructed to sell the seized fertiliser to farmers at a fair price and deposit the proceeds into the government treasury.
