A businessman and mill owner named Nurul Islam Chuttu, 55, died in Feni after the lungi he was wearing got caught in the machine of a crushing mill used to grind turmeric, chili and rice.
The accident occurred around 3 p.m. Monday at the Khan Super Market in the Free Market area of Feni city.
Nurul Islam Chuttu, who died, was a resident of North Doulatpur village, Munshirhat union, Fulgazi upazila. He was the proprietor of Hazrat Shahjalal Crushing Mill at Khan Super Market.
Police and local sources said Nurul Islam was working inside the mill Monday afternoon while the machine was running. His lungi accidentally became entangled in the machine’s rotating parts. Within moments, he was caught in the machine and died at the scene.
Confirming the incident, Sajal Kanti Das, inspector (investigation) of Feni Model police station, said police recovered the body after being informed. Since there was no complaint, the body was later handed over to the family upon request.
