Meghmallar Bosu, former president of Dhaka University Chhatra Union and a central council member of the Network for People’s Action (NPA), has regained consciousness.
Sajeeb Tanvir, member secretary of NPA’s central council, confirmed the news Friday (September 11) night.
The young politician, undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital, is now breathing normally. Artificial oxygen support was stopped after he regained consciousness. Tanvir, who is coordinating with the hospital on Meghmallar’s treatment, said: “Meghmallar regained consciousness after noon on Friday. He has not needed artificial oxygen since then.”
He said: “On Friday evening, he spoke with NPA spokespersons Ferdous Ara Rumi and Nazifa Jannat, as well as central council members Anik Roy, Baki Billah, Shamim Ara Nipa and Monowar Naeem.”
Citing doctors, Tanvir said: “If his physical condition continues to improve, Meghmallar could be moved from the ICU to a general cabin on Saturday morning.” Tanvir also expressed hope that Meghmallar could return home soon if his recovery continues at this pace.
Meghmallar was earlier found unconscious late Monday night in the Ramna Gate area of Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital. His friends quickly took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he has been undergoing treatment since.
