The upazila administration has sealed “New Seba Clinic and Diagnostic Centre” in Jibannagar, Chuadanga, following the death of a woman four days after a caesarean operation there. The facility has also been fined 5,000 taka.
The operation was carried out around 10:30am Saturday (September 12), led by Jibannagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Sumaiya Sultana Annie.
During the operation, clinic authorities were unable to produce any valid documents or government licence. The facility was immediately sealed, and a fine of 5,000 taka was collected on the spot.
Jibannagar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Fahmida Akter Runa and Jibannagar thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Solayman Sheikh were present during the operation.
UNO Sumaiya Sultana Annie said the administration has adopted a “zero tolerance” policy against unapproved and illegal clinics and diagnostic centres. Quick legal action will also be taken against other illegal healthcare facilities operating in Jibannagar upazila, she said.
