An elderly man named Shafi Mondol, 55, has died from a snake bite in Chuadanga’s Alamdanga upazila. The incident took place around 6am on Wednesday (September 16) in the upazila’s Khadimpur village.
The deceased, Shafi Mondol, was the son of Nur Bakx Mondol of Khadimpur village in the upazila. According to local and family sources, Shafi Mondol was bitten by a snake while returning home after offering Fajr prayers at a mosque near his house at dawn. After reaching home, he fell ill, and relatives rushed him to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital.
He died there around 10am while undergoing treatment. The police station’s officer-in-charge (OC), Bani Israil, confirmed the incident, saying he had been made aware of the matter.
