Police have recovered the body of an elderly woman named Pori Rani Hazra three days after she went missing in Satpar Bedvita village, Gopalganj Sadar upazila. Her family alleges, however, that criminals killed her and left the body after robbing her of gold jewellery.
Family members and locals discovered the body Monday morning after noticing a foul smell from a jute field beside the road in front of her home. They informed police, who went to the scene and recovered the body.
Police said Pori Rani Hazra had been missing for three days. The body has been sent to Gopalganj General Hospital for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Police said the cause of death would be known once the post-mortem report is received.
