Two children drowned in a ditch in Khaliajuri, a haor region of Netrokona district.
The children died after falling into a ditch in front of Jaherpur Government Primary School in the upazila on Saturday (September 12) morning.
The deceased were Obaidullah, 5, son of Md Selim Mia, and Shahadat, 4, son of Md Sekul Mia, both of Jaherpur village.
According to local residents and police, Obaidullah and Shahadat were playing in front of Jaherpur Government Primary School in the morning when they fell into the ditch and died. Sub-inspector Manjur Rahman went to the scene after being informed and confirmed the deaths.
Khaliajuri thana OC Nasir Uddin said an unnatural death case has been filed over the incident at the police station. The bodies of the two children were handed over to their families after completing the legal process.
