Human chain in Kotchandpur demands madrasa teacher’s release

Teachers, students, guardians and local residents formed a human chain in Kotchandpur, Jhenaidah, to protest the arrest of Abul Bashar, head teacher of Darul Uloom Madrasatus Suffah in the Dudhsara area, and to demand his release.

The human chain was held around 4 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 9) at Dudhsara bus stand in the municipal area.

Speakers at the human chain said they believe the case filed and the arrest of head teacher Abul Bashar over the accusation of raping a student are false and baseless. They demanded that the true facts be uncovered through a fair and impartial investigation of the accusation.

Speakers also said the truth of the accusation should be verified through investigation and lawful action taken accordingly. They said the administration must also ensure that no innocent person faces harassment, and called for no one to be socially disparaged before the investigation concludes.

Maulana Amanullah, Maulana Ibrahim, Mufti Jasim Uddin, Hafez Ali Azam, Maulana Nurul Kabir, Mufti Mohammad Ismail and Maulana Abdul Kader spoke at the human chain.

Speakers demanded the release of head teacher Abul Bashar and called on the administration to investigate the matter quickly and impartially.

Madrasa teachers, students, guardians and local people from various walks of life attended the human chain.
