FARIDPUR — Returning officer Md. Kamrul Hasan Molla has completed the verification of nomination papers for the Faridpur-4 constituency (Bhanga, Sadarpur and Charbhadrasan) in the upcoming 13th national election. Of the 10 candidates who submitted papers, five — including the BNP and Jamaat candidates — were declared valid, while five, including the Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis candidate, were rejected.
The verification was held at the conference room of the Faridpur district administrator’s office at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. All candidates from the constituency were present. Also present were district officer Tareq Ahmed and additional district administrators Ramanand Pal, Mintu Biswas and Sohrab Hossain.
Returning officer Md. Kamrul Hasan Molla said the nominations of five candidates were rejected due to defects in their paperwork, while five others were declared valid.
BNP candidate Shahidul Islam Babul expressed satisfaction after his nomination was approved. “I am grateful to the party and the voters,” he said. “Voters have not been able to cast their ballots for a long time. Both new and old voters will go to polling centers with joy in the February 12 election.”
