MANIKGANJ — A 15-year-old student was stabbed to death in the Putail area of Manikganj Sadar upazila, and police have taken two people into custody for questioning, officials said.
The victim, identified as Rabbi, was the son of Manik Mia of the area and a ninth-grader at the local Kafatia High School.
The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday during a Lakshmi Puja fair after a verbal exchange between two groups, police said.
According to police and local sources, members of one group stabbed Rabbi during the argument at the Hindu Lakshmi Puja fair. He was seriously injured and was taken to Sadar Hospital by bystanders, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Aminul Islam, inspector of investigation at Manikganj Sadar Police Station, confirmed the incident and said legal action was underway.
